Davenham, using the DavenX
F4, has installed substations where the MV supply is taken directly
to the MV Switchgear. This can then be directly coupled as a composite
unit via a Cast Resin Transformer.
One of the key advantages of this kind of installation
is the economic benefit of distribution and flexibility.
Power is transmitted to the power stations using
high voltage cables keeping multiple runs of low voltage high
current expensive cables to a minimum.
MV Cables are smaller in diameter and are much
easier to route.
With the use of Unit Substations there is no
requirement for additional civil works such as fire resistant
walls, oil spillage precautions etc.
